We began another long day with a trip to Recoleta, one of the most fashionable neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. After looking at the silver altar front piece, we walked next door to the famous La Recoleta cemetery.
Hernan gave us a walking tour of the amazing mausoleums, including the one holding the remains of Eva Peron.
Evita is everywhere...
From La Recoleta, we went to Teatro Colon, one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world. The crew was on stage building a new set for Beatrice and Benedict, so we couldn't really hear the tour guide over the racket.
We had lunch at a local restaurant and serenaded one of Hernan's friends, who was there for a birthday lunch, not realizing Hernan had a choir in tow.
After lunch, we hit a fancy mall for a little shopping, and then went back to the hotel to get ready for the concert. The church had a problematic altar area, which made finding a standing position a real puzzle. Thanks to Syntax for figuring things out and to everyone for dealing with the difficult standing and hearing challenges.
The concert went reasonably well, and it was fun to welcome a local choir, La Camerata Exaudi, to share the program with us.
After a trip back to the hotel to change, we walked to a local pizza parlor for dinner.
After dinner, we walked to the local park for a traditional round of drinking songs. We also initiated a new (honorary) member. Henceforth and forever more, Hernan will be known as Dulce.
After the park, a lot of the guys showed up at my room to see my spacious terrace. I kicked them out at 2:00, and evidently some of them went out after that. Yikes!
